Founder Story

I built a small site and added Trustpilot, because it is the review platform everyone knows. After a few months I had 23 reviews, all five-star. Then a 4-star review arrived. I replied honestly: yes, there are corner cases where things do not work perfectly.

The review disappeared. No notification. No reason. No record. To this day I do not know who removed it or why.

Then I learned what the free plan really means: I could not display my own score. I could not show the review texts my own users wrote for me. Everything my customers said was locked behind a $99/month paywall. All I could have was a button.

So I am building fairstar.dev to replace it. The widget above is the first version. It works. The rest is coming. The rules are simple: owners control their wall, but every hidden review is logged, the author always knows, and the stats are public. Nothing disappears silently.

Reviewers verify their identity with a one-click OAuth login through Google, GitHub, or LinkedIn. Each verified account can only leave one review per product, and domain checks stop reviews from being posted through unauthorized sites.

Can I approve reviews before they go live?

Yes. New reviews start as pending, so you can review and approve them before they appear publicly. You can also post an official response under any review.

Do reviewers need to make an account?

No. Reviewers write their review first, then confirm who they are with a quick OAuth popup. There is no separate password or account to manage.

Can I hide reviews I don't like?

Yes, with full transparency. You pick a reason, and your hiding stats are public on your profile page, broken down by star rating. You control your wall. Everyone sees how you use that control.

How is my data and my reviewers data handled?

Only the minimum data needed is collected. Notification emails are encrypted, and publishing a review requires clear consent. Data is stored on trusted infrastructure with strong access controls.

How does this help with Google search results?
