1. About This Service & Operator Status

fairstar.dev ("the Service", "we", "us") provides lightweight, edge-cached review widgets, embedded client scripts, and review collection tools for websites. The Service is currently developed and operated by an individual based in Belgium. Formal business registration details will be updated in these Terms upon incorporation. The Service may offer both free and paid features or subscription tiers.

By embedding our code, creating an account, or submitting content through our widgets, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Terms for Reviewers

• Eligibility: The Service is not directed at, and may not be used by, individuals under 16 years of age.
• Authenticity & Account Limits: Reviews require identity verification via a supported OAuth provider (Google, GitHub, or LinkedIn). You are limited to one review per product or item per verified identity account.
• Acceptable Content: You agree not to submit spam, hate speech, defamatory content, content that infringes any third party's rights, fake reviews, or malicious code. We reserve the right to remove non-compliant submissions at our sole discretion, with or without notice.
• Public Grant: By checking the consent box at submission, you grant a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to display your chosen display name, star rating, and review text publicly on the host website and in related SEO or structured-data output, for as long as the review remains published. This license ends when the review is removed, whether by you, by us, or pursuant to a deletion request under our Privacy Policy.
• Responsibility for Content: You represent that your review reflects your genuine experience and does not violate any law or third party's rights. You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claim arising from content you submit.

3. Terms for Site Owners & Businesses

• Widget Embedding: We grant you a non-exclusive, revocable license to embed our script on websites you control. You must maintain accurate domain restrictions (allowed_domains) for your widget configuration.
• Honest Review Management: You agree not to manipulate review scores, suppress genuine negative reviews outside the normal moderation flow, or post fraudulent reviews. We reserve the right to disable widgets used for fraudulent or deceptive marketing practices.
• Compliance Responsibility: You are responsible for your use of reviewer content, including compliance with advertising standards and consumer protection laws in your jurisdiction.
• Service Availability: Free tiers or free usage tiers are provided without uptime commitments or service-level agreements. We reserve the right to modify, restrict, suspend, or discontinue the Service, in whole or in part, including the free tier, at any time and for any reason, with or without notice, including where we determine the Service is not sustainable to continue operating.
• Fair Infrastructure Usage: We reserve the right to throttle or block traffic engaging in abuse, scraping, or activity threatening platform stability.

4. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, ACCURACY, OR UNINTERRUPTED AVAILABILITY. We do not warrant that reviews are genuine beyond the identity-verification measures described in our Privacy Policy, nor do we warrant uninterrupted uptime of third-party OAuth identity providers, which are outside our control.

5. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law: (a) we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, revenue, data, or business opportunity, arising from your use of the Service; and (b) our total aggregate liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the Service shall not exceed the total amount paid by you to us for the Service in the twelve (12) months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or zero if you use the Service free of charge.

6. Content Moderation & Takedown

We act as a host for user-submitted review content and do not pre-verify the substance of reviews beyond identity verification and the moderation controls made available to site owners. Submitted reviews may undergo a pending moderation status prior to approval. If you believe content hosted through the Service is unlawful, defamatory, or infringing, contact us via email with details, and we will review and act on legitimate notices within a reasonable time.

7. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without cause or notice, particularly in cases of suspected fraud, abuse, or breach of these Terms. You may stop using the Service and request deletion of your account data at any time by contacting us.

8. Intellectual Property

We retain all right, title, and interest in the fairstar.dev widget, scripts, and platform. These Terms grant you only the limited license described above; no other rights are transferred.

9. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date above reflects the most recent revision. Material changes affecting paid features or your core rights will be communicated via a notice on the site or by email where applicable. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.

10. Governing Law & Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of Belgium, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the competent courts of Belgium, except where mandatory consumer-protection rules require otherwise for consumers resident elsewhere in the EU.
